There are so many facets to the Coconut Lagoon experience. The heritage of the old fuedal villages of Malabar. The vast frolic of the Vembanad lake. The shimmering waters of the canals that criss-cross the property. The flavour bursts of Kerala home-style cooking.

Take a pleasant stroll, cross a little wooden bridge and you'll find yourself in our Ayurveda Centre. Here, you can try massages and treatments for everything from beauty and toning to rejuvenation and stress, all based on India's ancient healing art of Ayurveda. Unsure of what you need? Our experienced physicians will be happy to give you a free consultation and point you in the right direction. One of the best ways to enjoy the lake is to take our sunset cruise, an hour-long idyll with flute accompaniment. Water lovers might also enjoy taking an oar- or punt-boat out on to the lake with one of the local fishermen, both for company and a steadying hand on the tiller. Within minutes, you're in a watery universe, so quiet, you can hear your own blood pumping around your head.

We use the common ingredients of the Kerala kitchen to serve our guests the most authentic, home-cooked Kerala food on a banana leaf. Expect genuine fish curry with bones in it, tapioca with crushed bird’s eye chili and more... So when you drop into Ayemenem, our lakeside restaurant, come prepared to be surprised. Even if you've had lots of 'Kerala food' before!

As you travel through our properties, perhaps you could observe and learn from our conservation practices, just as we have observed and learnt from the simple people of the land. A CGH Earth resort is always planned with environmental and community concerns uppermost in mind. As resources are used, equal importance is given to renewal. At Spice Village for example, we let nature regulate your room temperature and plan to rely completely on solar power soon. And at a dozen properties, tree plantation has helped to strengthen the ecosystem. Conservation and social responsibility cannot be just corporate initiatives; they need to underlie everything we do. Nature must be placed where, in truth, she already is: at the centre of our world.
