Time ticks a bit differently here at our hotel in Carinthia and clocks play no role. When you slip into our outdoor Jacuzzi or settle into one of our six relaxation rooms, at the very least you’ll feel true relaxation while you take in the views of the majestic Dolomites surrounding our hotel spa in Carinthia. Natural organic mountain hay is the focus of Lesach Valley mountain wellness at the Alpin-Spa Sunnseit’n. In the form of baths, massages and treatments, the hay’s precious ingredients promote beauty and well-being.
We have a lot to offer for them - no matter what you are doing: hiking through Alpine pastures in full blossom or up to the mountain peaks surrounding our hotel, enjoying a meal prepared with the best regional products in our cosy restaurant or relaxing and getting pampered in our expanded spa and wellness area.
Our romantic Almwellness swimming pool is filled with our own, state-approved mineral water. Its temperature is about 30 degrees Celsius. Our Jacuzzi is located outdoors surrounded by beautiful mountains. Seats with massage jets ensure soothing relaxation in the hotel’s own mineral water.
Wherever the water is used at our hotel in the Lesach Valley, it comes from our own spring. Food and drink can thank it for their incredible freshness and it provides a feeling of well-being and beauty in our wellness area – this healing water is one of the most important ingredients in our self-made cosmetic products.
Try Kneipp therapy in our indoor mountain stream - this is an especially healthy treatment for your circulation. The wading pool, waterfall and plunge pool are filled with the hotel’s own refreshing, 12°C mineral water.
After a sauna, a swim and a Kneipp cure your body needs to relax. You can do this in our six different relaxation rooms. Pleasantly warm water beds invite you to lie back in our original spruce farmhouse parlour with its fantastic view of the mountain range Karnische Alpen. Especially fascinating are the grey rock giants of the well-known Lienz Dolomites which dominate the view from the room Dolomitenblick (View over the Dolomites).
A small and extremely quiet room with wooden deck chairs offers another stunning view of the Karnische Alpen. In the relaxation area next to the whirlpool you relax on lounge chairs made out of oak wood from old wine barrels.
We have put together a wide range of treatments and look forward to welcoming you to the Sunnseit’n. Take advantage of the years of experience of our staff. Let us consult with you and help you find the perfect treatments. Together we will put together your own personalised spa programme.
Bread steam bath: The historic bread bath with a temperature of 35 degrees Celsius is ideal for calming down! The air in the room is enriched with the enzymes of the sour dough baking in the oven. These bread enzymes stimulate the metabolism and prevent digestive disorders.
Kraxen oven - Hay sauna Relax your back and shoulders in the Kraxen oven which has a heat of 35 degrees Celsius. A light barrier gets it started when you sit down. Close the curtain and enjoy the pleasant warmth of mountain hay.
The tuff room An infrared cabin of 50 degrees Celsius Sweating stimulates the circulation of the blood, detoxifies, purifies the body and boosts the cell renewal. The heat of the infrared light warms the body from inside and is not only good for your body but also for your soul. Besides that: stone pine wood (which has partly been used) guarantees deeper relaxation and a reduction of the heart frequency.
Brechel bath Move on and take pleasure in our Brechel bath which offers a heat of 55 degrees Celsius. In the middle of the room a bath oven regularly releases herbal steam which soothingly caresses your back. Fur needles on the floor offer a natural foot reflexology therapy.
Alpine grotto Steam bath 45°C At a temperature of about 45 degrees Celsius and high humidity the air in this grotto which is enriched with orange oils makes your skin sweat and stimulates your circulation. The purifying effect strengthens your immune system, your skin gets softer and more sensitive. With a special button in the sauna you can start the release of salt-enriched air.
Stone steam bath - 65 degrees Celsius A traditional tub with gleaming stones is sunk into cold water. Hissing and groaning the rock presents its precious inner life. The body gets slowly used to heat and humidity. At the same time and during four possible infusions it absorbs the high-quality minerals from the rock.
Brennstadl - 75 degrees Celsius The term sauna comes from the Finnish expression for "room made out of wood". A sauna is an alternating hot and cold condition which steadily heats up the body. By increasing the body heat and cooling it down with the outdoor temperature and cold water the circulation is stimulated and the immune system is strengthened. Sweating the body gets purified.
Stubensauna Finnish dry 90 °C Our Stuben sauna is a classic Finnish sauna with a temperature of about 90 °C. Take a seat and feel the soothing effects of the hot dry air with every breath you take. Aromatic infusions bring added relaxation and provide variety – enjoy a new scent every day. This is perfect for active athletes, for preventing colds and easing muscle tension.
Sauna hut The grand finale Save the sauna hut for last, as this sauna is not only a bit hotter (95°C), but also has a very special atmosphere. In this rustic hut near the outdoor Jacuzzi, you will sweat in a cosy square sauna made of aged dark wood. The creaking of the wood in combination with the views is a very special experience, especially in winter.
Our Tuffbad spring: Our greatest treasure! The spring has been found by monks from Maria Luggau, a well-known pilgrimage place nearby, when they were searching for herbs. For many centuries now this pure calcium-magnesium-sulphate-hydrogen-carbonate spring has been streaming out of ancient rocks with a temperature of 12 degrees Celsius. Already in 1765 the Duke of Porcia, Count of Ortenburg, allowed the erection of a bathing house for the monks. In 1972 the healing power of the spring was officially state-approved.
